This area is MUST HAVES; we have chosen these items as the absolute necessities for the Student Sport Pilot.  These are the least expensive, most comprehensive publications in the industry that cover the areas of knowledge and areas of operations that the FAA requires that you aquire to become certificated.  There are other training publications on the market, most are interpretations of these FAA publications; we happen to think that the FAA publications are the best to guide you since it is the FAA that is testing you.

The second area is NICE to HAVES; certainly not necessary, but these items are a good addition to your aviation library and pilot supplies.

Section Aeronautical Charts are designed for visual navigation of slow to medium speed aircraft.  The topographic information featured consists of the relief and judicious selection of visual checkpoints used for flight under visual flight rules.  The checkpoints include populated places, drainage patterns, roads, railroads and other distinctive landmarks.  The aeronautical information on Sectional Charts includes visual and radio aids to navigation, airports, controlled airspace, restricted areas, obstructions and related data.  Revised semi-annually with the exception of most Alaskan charts which are revised annually.
